LifeNets Volunteers Leave Ukraine... July 18, 2015 Our Seven Volunteers completed a most successful mission at "Light of Love" and will fly home Sunday, July 19. Here is a report sent by group leader Greg Rorem: Привіт Mr. Кубик, (Greetings Mr. Kubik) We are all here in Budapest, Hungary! Thanks very much for setting us up here. Yesterday Elek drove us to Satu Mare, Romania, and we caught a train from there to here; only a minor hiccup on the train as we sat in a reserved seat and were "fined" 40 Hungarian forints, which is maybe 10 cents and some nice guys paid the 5 or 10 cents and explained the situation to the Hungarian-only speaking train conductor. We were on the right train though. The camp went really well. English lessons were enjoyed but especially the number of hands-on crafts projects we did with them as well, we connected them to some biblical and English instruction. We worked very well with the Polichkos [directors of "Light of Love"] and they seemed very pleased and excited that we wanted to, and did, participate in their morning and evening short Bible studies and were able to have interesting and constructive discussions with them and consult them on our activities and include them in our plan. The kids were a bit wild, but we all appreciated the energy quite a bit. That has left us very very tired, but sometimes the more tired one is, the more it means we gave ourselves in service to others, and I believe regarding this experience, that rings true. Artur was a tremendous asset in translating more intense biblical discussions, and many being able to communicate in Russian or Ukrainian made a huge difference in building stronger and more meaningful relationships with those there, and for those who this experience was all new, oh boy it was new, but reportedly very worthwhile and educational. I will write more soon, thank you very much! And have a blessed Sabbath day. Дуже дякую! (Thank you very much!) Greg Rorem Participants below:
